Fitness for the future: donation of cardio equipment to the Friedrich-Spee Comprehensive School

Promoting exercise, improving health and motivating young people – with this aim in mind, Ahorn-Sportpark and the Ahorn Sport- und Freizeit-Club Paderborn e. V. (ASC Paderborn) have donated several pieces of cardio equipment to the Friedrich-Spee Comprehensive School for its fitness room, known as the ‘Krafthafen’.

This marks a further step towards holistic health promotion for the Friedrich Spee Comprehensive School in Paderborn. The donation comprises several pieces of cardio equipment from the Ahorn Sportpark’s inventory, which are now available to pupils. The handover of the cardio equipment was made possible by a new purchase by ASC Paderborn for the fitness room at the Ahorn Sportpark. “Instead of scrapping the equipment, it was clear to us that it deserved a second life – ideally where it can directly reach young people,” said Jessica Spörhase (ASC Paderborn).

With the “Krafthafen”, the Friedrich-Spee-Gesamtschule is creating a space where pupils can not only develop their physical strength but also learn how important exercise is for personal well-being. The Krafthafen offers pupils a place where they can work out, relieve stress and, at the same time, build strength and endurance. “We are delighted that our donation is making a lasting contribution to the facilities for this health project,” says Maren Richts (Ahorn-Sportpark).

The school management at Friedrich-Spee-Gesamtschule expressed their gratitude: “With the ‘Krafthafen’, a place of empowerment is being created at our school, both physically and mentally,” said Deputy Headteacher Dr Alexander Hennemann. “Thanks to the support of Ahorn-Sportpark and ASC Paderborn, our pupils can use cardio equipment and train their endurance in a targeted way.”

The official handover of the equipment took place during a tour of the Krafthafen at the school – featuring sporting demonstrations, good conversation and a clear goal: to improve health, boost motivation and keep active together.
