Radio Hochstift Holiday Finale attracts thousands of visitors to the Ahorn-Sportpark in glorious sunshine

People are strolling around the festival grounds at the Radio Hochstift-Ferienfinale in the Ahorn-Sportpark. Under blue parasols, visitors are queuing at drinks stands. Behind them are colourful stalls, bouncy castles and a large purple marquee.

In glorious summer weather, the Ahorn Sportpark was transformed into a huge family sports festival for the twelfth edition of the Radio Hochstift Holiday Finale. Thousands of visitors flocked to the site on 24 August and enjoyed an unforgettable day full of fun, music and hands-on activities. Organised by the Ahorn Sport- und Freizeit-Club Paderborn e. V. (ASC Paderborn) and in collaboration with numerous sports clubs and partners, over 70 activity stands offered visitors of all ages the chance to let off steam, try out new things and have lots of fun. “Beaming children hopped, romped and ran from station to station; it was a colourful scene full of energy and enthusiasm,” said Maren Richts (Ahorn-Sportpark).

A large spectator stand is well filled. On a trampoline area, several people in white coats are performing a show. In the foreground, a person dressed as an elderly lady leaps high into the air, whilst the other performers stand below and the audience watches spellbound.

The stage programme ensured beaming faces and a lively atmosphere thanks to rousing performances by local dance sport groups, impressive displays by the karate group and the gymnastics team of the North Rhine-Westphalia Police, and the atmospheric songs of Isa Glücklich. The final highlight was the mascot duel, which was won by Paola from SC Grün-Weiß Paderborn and Eddy from Radio Hochstift.

The organisers would like to thank the more than 300 dedicated volunteers, the sports clubs and partners for their efforts; without their support, an event of this scale would not have been possible. Thanks to the collaboration with partners Radio Hochstift, Sparkasse Paderborn-Detmold-Höxter and Stadtwerke Paderborn, admission was free again this year.

“The Radio Hochstift Holiday Finale has once again proven that it has established itself as the final summer holiday event and is an integral part of the annual planning for ASC Paderborn and Ahorn-Sportpark,” explains Ahorn-Sportpark Managing Director Ralf Pahlsmeier. The next edition of the Radio Hochstift Holiday Finale is already in the pipeline!
