The scenic route traditionally runs from Büren-Ringelstein to the finish line at the Ahorn-Sportpark in Paderborn. Along the Almetal valley, participants can expect a varied backdrop that defines the special character of this marathon. In addition to the classic marathon distance, two half-marathon options are available: the ‘upper’ half-marathon from Büren-Ringelstein to Wewelsburg and the ‘lower’ half-marathon from Wewelsburg to Paderborn. The programme is complemented by a relay race comprising four legs of 10.5 kilometres each.
A standout feature of the Almetal Marathon is its organisation: a total of twelve sports clubs along the route are joining forces, making the event an impressive example of active club cooperation.
