We are a venue for school groups

We offer school groups a unique opportunity to hold their PE lessons in a versatile sporting environment. Whether athletics, ball sports or functional training is on the curriculum, regular PE lessons can be conducted in an active and varied manner on our multi-purpose sports areas.

Schools also have the option of holding their sports days here.

Bookings for the sports facilities are handled by our sports management team.

Offer for school classes with our sports clubs

In collaboration with various sports clubs, we have developed a range of exciting activities specifically for school classes and groups. These activities are suitable for pupils from Year 4 upwards. The content of the activities is tailored to the age of the participants. All sports sessions are expertly led by qualified instructors from the organising clubs at Ahorn Sports Park.

Come and spend an interesting day with us and get to know the various sports in a different way. You can try out the following sports:

One pupil takes a swing at the baseball. Another pupil stands opposite him with a baseball bat, focusing on the ball. Behind the second pupil, a girl crouches down to catch the ball if it is not hit by the pupil with the baseball bat.

Baseball

Participants will learn the basics of this traditional American sport. They will start with an introduction to the rules and batting techniques. They will then put their new skills into practice.

During the Radio Hochstift holiday final, a coach from LC Paderborn holds the starting baton aloft for the sprint start. A boy is ready to set off. Around him, photoelectric barriers have been set up to time the run and measure his speed, and a row of cones marks out the course. In the foreground stands a pole with a sign on it that reads: Photo Finish Sprint!

Athletics

Participants will experience various athletics disciplines. Under the motto “Higher, faster, further”, they will try their hand at the high jump and long jump. Times on the sprint track will be measured electronically. Every participant will receive a certificate. Sportswear is required.

A pupil walks across a slackline, which is held by his classmates. The pupils are completing the task as part of a team-building module at Ahorn Sports Park.

Active team-building

Team building through sport is becoming increasingly popular. In this module, participants focus primarily on developing team spirit and helping team members find their roles. The aim is to test one’s limits during the exercises and to solve tasks together. You can choose between an indoor and an outdoor team-building module.

Fortnite, Mario Kart & Co – analogue gaming

Games are part of everyday life for school pupils and are important for their social interaction in the digitalised world. Here, digital content is brought onto the analogue playing field, teamwork is combined with media literacy, and a love of play and physical activity is fostered – an innovative approach to games as cultural heritage and a great opportunity to engage with pupils through games.

Pupils stand on the interactive squash court with squash rackets and hit balls at the interactive wall. There, the pupils try to hit various monster icons to score points.

Squash

Participants are first briefed on safety on the squash court and the basic stroke techniques. They then put their newly acquired skills into practice in their first attempts at playing.

In the footsteps of Heinz Nixdorf

Computers – Museum – Sport
An initiative of the Heinz Nixdorf Foundation for school groups

We offer school classes the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Heinz Nixdorf and experience a varied and exciting combination of a museum visit and sport. In doing so, they learn about the life and work of Heinz Nixdorf as a pioneer of the information society and a promoter of sport. On the initiative of the Heinz Nixdorf Foundation, the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum and the Ahorn-Sportpark are offering this special trail. School classes from Year 4 upwards and courses from all types of schools are invited. We support every participating class that opts for this programme with a one-off grant covering two-thirds of the travel and programme costs incurred, up to a maximum of €600.

A group of schoolchildren are standing in the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum in front of a display case containing a large silver trophy and other exhibits. An adult is pointing to a photograph on the wall showing sailors on a boat, whilst the children look on with interest.

In the footsteps of Heinz Nixdorf

“In the Footsteps of Heinz Nixdorf” comprises a one-hour guided tour of the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum focusing on the life and work of the computer pioneer, and a 90-minute sports session with us. The content of the guided tour and the sports session is tailored to the age of your pupils and is led by experts.
